Hantavirus is not new, it already attacked many Asian countries for the past years. The virus attacked various animals without showing symptoms and that is one big problem because once it attack humans the symptoms would slowly appearing which sooner would kill the host by its fatal blow.   Most cases of Hantavirus in Europe and America were carried by rats and it is not a question that once it spread in South East Asia it would be a serious problem,  different rats roamed around the streets and the crowded shanties in poverty-stricken countries such as the Philippines, Vietnam,Thailand,etc. Hantavirus would definitely spread very fast.

South East Asia has talented and skillful medical professionals so there is no point of panicking once this virus attack the residents, what it takes is simply a little understanding of the virus and a monitoring to its possible source of existence in that way doctors and nurses may know how to stop the progress and the spread of this silent killer.

Abortion remains one of the most debated issues today.
The hand of God subtitled a journey from death to life by the abortion doctor who changes his mind that discovers the wonders of life happening inside the womb and comes to appreciate the unborn human being. Nathanson devotes the first several chapters to the story of his family, especially of his father whose strict and authoritarian ways pushed him to become a medical doctor and contributed to the suicide of his sister. He recounts how his father's coldness sees him to procure and abortion for his pregnant girlfriend, and how this, plus apathy of times, molded him into the conscienceless abortionist.
Abortion is deliberate, intentional and premeditated murder or killing the right of a person in the womb to develop and to live. Every unborn child of the womb is a living person and parts of the creation. Life includes the rights of an individual to his body and its completeness, free from dismemberment and extends to the use of God given faculties which make life enjoyable. Fetus has an active brain, a heart that beats in every single second and body, arms, and legs that move. In addition, abortion is included as one of the most essential parts of the definition-reproductive health-pro-choice position, in which the woman would be assigned exclusive rights to make the decision to terminate her pregnancy. Human life should be given its fair chance to live; it must be respected and protected. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person, one which is the inviolable "right to life". Therefore nobody may dispose of another's life, neither as an end nor as a means. Increase in the activity is directly related to the low contraceptive use and high unmet need of contraception. Contraceptive non-use is the major cause for unintended pregnancy resulting to abortion. Besides, major reason is that its too expensive to raise a child nowadays. Who is brave enough to end up the life in a womb faces the risk not only a criminal prosecution but more likely of developing complications. Since family planning is the most difficult job in the world, abortion absolutely increases its number.

The womb of a mother should be the safest refuge for the life of a fetus to be nurtured not to be aborted. Abortion destroys not only the body parts of the unborn baby but also trouble and traumatizes the lives of those who take part in it because of guilt. It is also the expulsion from the womb of an immature, non-viable fetus, God has breathed into it as soul, so what right has anyone to declare it "unfit to live"? No matter what the circumstances are surroundings the conception of a child, life is sacred and everybody bound to respect it.
Every fertilized ovum is already a person undergoing development towards maturity. It is not just a blood clot and it is not an animal or insect inside the womb of the woman.
For further information, teenage pregnancy is on the rise on account of promiscuity. In West premarital sex is the accepted norm. Sexuality involves how we feet out our body, our desire for physical closeness encompasses everything and sexual intimacy involves genital touching in intercourse. Conflict with personal and parental values, sexual transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancy are the risks in teenager’s sexuality. Premarital sex is the major cause of abortion, intake of drugs-others may indulge in sex and drugs signal to the youth and expose to more temptation resulting in the further erosion of moral values. Sexual abuse and assault-the forced sexual contact, age factor, deviant adolescent sexual behavior, and peer pressure groups and sexual curiosity.
As a fact, teenagers need to get the right information about their own reproductive system and about sex as a whole. Not just sex education peers about teaching the young to value education on sexuality but its all about commitment and responsibility.
 Abortion is not a game, it is not a simple choice because in every abortion kills an innocent baby.

Nurses Talk - There are many couples in these world preffered to have sex anytime and anywhere and forgetting the sanctity of sex. Making sex as part of their daily leisures. And all these happened because of Contraceptives, believing that AIDS can be avoided or controlled if all people who are making love or making lust can have it safely with contraceptives. Condom is one of the well-known conctraceptives, is it safe? Let's find out!
Experts tend to avoid the term 'safe sex' to refer to sex using the condom, because they acknowledge that it does not give 100per cent protection against the various sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
'Safer sex' is now the preferred term.
A Cochrane Review on health care concluded that, with consistent use, condoms are about 80 per cent effective in reducing the risk of HIV infection.
The June 2004 Bulletin of the World Health Organisation noted that with consistent use of the condom, the risk of contracting gonorrhoea was reduced by about 62per cent, and that for chlamydia infection, by only about 26per cent.
Such limited extent of risk reduction is far from being acceptable.
The effectiveness of the condom can be further compromised by the fact that condom breakage and slippage are not uncommon.
A study published in the May 2006 issue of the British Medical Journal revealed that condom slippage was experienced by up to 33per cent of the teens who had used these; and condom breakage, by up to 25 per cent.
Studies have also shown that teenagers are relatively poor users of contraceptives.
There are many reasons why some teens engage in risky sexual behaviour. These include factors such as peer pressure, negative influence of some mass media, poor self-esteem, and poor parent-child relationships.
These should be considered in the design of any sexuality programme that is aimed at our young. It is our duty to provide them with the correct information, so that they can make the right decisions for themselves.-Dr John Hui Keem Peng
"For people who are sexually active, condoms remain our best solution to reducing risks of acquiring sexually transmitted infections (if uninfected) or transmitting these infections (if infected). Despite some inconsistencies in the evidence, studies show that condoms are an effective physical barrier against passage of even the smallest sexually transmitted pathogens," wrote Markus Steiner and Willard Cates of Family Health International.
A recent meta-analysis revealed that condoms really decrease the risk of gonorrhea and chlamydia in both men and women, but also of the genital herpes and human papillomavirus infection, if correctly employed.Many are concerned that the condom use boosts unsafe sexual behavior, but a recent review has not confirmed this."Like any prevention tool (such as seat belts or airbags) condoms are not 100% effective," wrote the authors.Still, people should know that the condom fulfills its mission integrated in the ABC strategy: abstinence, being faithful to one partner, and condom use.Still, "a more comprehensive approach is needed. Condoms cannot be the definitive answer to sexually transmitted infection, because they provide insufficient protection against many common diseases. Intercourse generally involves skin to skin contact in the external genital area not covered by a condom. The main problem with condoms is that average people, particularly teenagers and young adults, do not use them consistently, regardless of knowledge or education," said Stephen Genuis from the University of Alberta. "Numerous large studies where concerted efforts to promote use of condoms has consistently failed to control rates of sexually transmitted infection -- even in countries with advanced sex education programs like Canada, Sweden, and Switzerland."Recent researches proved that changes in sexual behavior (less partners and casual sex, and less appeal to sex workers), rather than condom use, dropped the rate of STDs in countries like Thailand and Cambodia. About 70 % of the STDs around the world occur in teenagers and young adults. "Yet innumerable adolescents saturated with condom focused sex education end up contracting sexually transmitted infections. Although factual information should be included in any discussion of sexually transmitted infections, narrow condom focused initiatives should be replaced with comprehensive evidence-based programs," said Genuis.
So there you have it, best information to answer your question about the condoms. I suggest that you keep you virginity and have your sex when you have your honeymoon. Its very wonderful to have sex to a person you really love and truly respected.

Nurses Talk - Do you love vegetable soups? Well, vegetable soups are best for making your body strong and healthy.  The reason why most Asian people reach the age of 80, its because of vegetable soups. So here are some of the best Vegetable soups that i am sure you will enjoy!

 Big Batch Vegetable soup

Ingredients: 
  1. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  2. 2 cups chopped onions or thinly sliced leeks (whites only)
  3. 1 cup thinly sliced celery
  4. 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  5. Coarse salt and ground pepper
  6. 3 (14.5 ounce) cans reduced-sodium vegetable or chicken broth
  7. 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, with juice
  8. 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  9. 8 cups mixed fresh or frozen vegetables, such as carrots, corn, green beans, lima beans, peas, potatoes, and zucchini (cut larger vegetables into smaller pieces)
Directions:
  1. Heat oil in a large stockpot over medium heat. Add onions or leeks, celery, and Italian seasoning; season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until onions are translucent, 5 to 8 minutes.
  2. Add broth, tomatoes and their juice, tomato paste, and 3 cups water to pot; bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, and cook, uncovered, 20 minutes.
  3. Add vegetables to pot, and return to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, until vegetables are tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, as desired. Let cool before storing.
  4. Pour remaining soup in small batches into bowl of a food processor; carefully puree until smooth, and return to saucepan. Stir in cream; season with salt and pepper. Garnish with the reserved mushrooms, and serve hot.
Yield: 8 servings

Sorrel Soup

Ingredients:
1 lb. of sorrel
1 large Spanish onion
 3 pints of water
 1 oz. of butter pepper and salt to taste
 ½ lb. of Allinson wholemeal bread cut into small dice  

How to cook Sorrel Soup
  • Pick, wash, and chop up the sorrel, chop up the onion, and boil both with the water, butter, pepper, and salt until the onion is quite tender.
  • Place the bread in the souptureen and pour the soup over it. Cover it up, and let the bread soak for a few minutes before serving.

Cabbage Soup

Ingredients:
1 fair-sized cabbage  a large Spanish onion
 1-1/2 oz. of butter  pepper and salt to taste
½ saltspoonful of nutmeg
 1-1/2 pints of milk
 2 tablespoonfuls of fine wheatmeal.
How to cook Cabbage Soup
  • After preparing and washing the cabbage, shred up very fine, chop up the onion, set these two in a saucepan over the fire with 1 quart of water, the butter and seasoning, and let all cook gently for 1 hour, or longer it the vegetables are not quite tender.
  • Add the milk and thickening when the vegetables are thoroughly tender, and let all simmer gently for 10 minutes; serve with little squares of toasted or fried bread, or plain rusks.

Quick Potato Soup

Ingredients:
2   cups thinly-sliced raw potatoes        
1   tablespoon margarine  
1/4   cup finely-chopped onion
 3/4   teaspoon salt
 1-1/4   cups boiling water
 1-1/2   cups milk (may be partly evaporated milk)

How to cook Quick Potato Soup
  • Add potatoes and onions to the boiling water.
  • Cover, and cook for about 14 to 20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  • Mash the potatoes slightly with a fork to thicken the Soup a little, if desired.
  • Add milk, margarine and seasoning. Heat to serving temperature.
  • Top each serving with a dab of sour cream and sprinkle with finely cut parsley.
  • Yield: 4 serving, a cup each.

Vegetarian Chili Recipes - Five Bean Vegetarian Chili

This low fat, meatless chili recipe is packed with flavor and healthy beans.
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes with juice, undrained
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (12 oz.) can or bottle beer
4 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 (15 oz.) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15 oz.) can garbanzo beans, drained
1 (15 oz.) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15 oz.) can cannellini beans
1 (15 oz.) can whole kernel corn, drained and rinsed
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions
In a 4-quart sized pot, saute the garlic in the olive oil.
Add in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beer, chili powder, mustard powder, oregano, pepper, cumin and hot pepper sauce.
Stir in the black beans, garbanzo beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, cannellini beans and the corn. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and let chili simmer for 20 minutes.
Sprinkle cheese on top before serving.

Many women and men indulge in habits which are very destructive to the skin and what is bad they don't even realize the negative result it could cause to their skin. So here are tips on how to handle your skin to keep you always beautiful and young looking.

1. Broad-spectrum sunscreen jump
The most effective way to stay your skin from getting wrinkled, saggy and speckled are sunscreen, SPF 30 and the minimum. formula with broad spectrum (ie they shield against UVA and UVB) with Helioplex or Mexoryl offers the most durable protection. Apply a teaspoon full on your face, and writing a quick drink in your body. For ordinary days, a new application as soon as your return trip.




2. smoking
If you continue smoking, you not only damage your strength, but you will deploy more and deeper wrinkles and skin tone blotchier. In fact, each decade of results from smoking is considered an additional 2.5 years, according to a study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

3. Overindulge drinking
Drinking more than one drink per day to your skin suffers. Alcohol increases the level of inflammatory agents into the bloodstream, which can accelerate sagging skin over time, "says Fredric Brandt, a dermatologist in New York and Coral Gables, Florida.
4. Using dirty make-up Brushes
unwashed brushes can clog pores and can cause bacterial infection. Once every three weeks, foam brushes with a mild shampoo like Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, rinse and let dry overnight.

5. Constant chatting on cell phones
Cheek resting on your chin or against a phone eruptions can direct whether or not the phone is clean and free of bacteria. "Just pressing his face against it can cause friction, occlusion, and heat, which can get you started," says Katie Rodan dermatologist Bay Area.

9. Skipping exercise
Exercise increases blood flow to the skin, causing a burst of healthy appearance. Immediately and over time, has been shown to reduce tension, which can lead to better skin. "When you are stressed, cortisol levels rise, and lead to the aggravation of acne and other skin," says Rodan. "Lower your cortisol peaks, and your skin will become smoother and clearer."

Any modification of the pigment UVA or UVB rays can cause premature aging and increase the likelihood of skin cancer. Tanning beds can be even worse because they emit concentrated light rays, which penetrate more deeply than the mixture of UVA and UVB in sunlight, "said the mayor. Make sure you protect yourself by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 every day.

1.  Soda fattens up your organs

Danish researched states that drinking non-diet soda can increase hard to detect fats in your body. If you are a Regular soda drinker you would soon  experience increases of harmful hidden fats, including liver fat and skeletal fat.  Other thing the Artificial sweeteners and food dyes of the soda can cause brain cell damage and hyperactivity not to mention it is a high risk for developing diabetes.

Most Soda brands contains brominated vegetable oil, which is a 100% percent toxic that can weakens your memory.  That ingredient is used to maintain the artificial flavor your favorite soda.  According to many research that the  hazardous ingredient  can cause bromide poisoning symptoms like skin lesions and memory loss, as well as nerve disorders.

Nursing Talk - This is one of the new health news that sounds alarming to those people who are with Cancer and those who are soon to become one.  As most health articles and health professionals would say that processed foods are not good and bad for the health.  Sausage is one of the top-selling processed food in the market and according to the experts one bite of it could cause serious problem especially if you are already having cancer.  If you eat one sausage a day it could raise the risk of bowel cancer, which is considered as one of the be most deadliest cancer diseases.  In Great Britain alone there were recorded 16,000 victims of bowel cancer and we all know that Londoners love to eat bacon and sausages.

"The evidence is that whether you are talking about bacon, ham or pastrami, the safest amount to eat is none at all.
"When you consider that eating 50g of processed meat a day can increase your risk of bowel cancer by about a fifth, it is clear that you can make a positive difference by cutting out as much as possible."

Nursing Talk - There are so many people young or old suffering from Neck pains.  Many nursing students who are into stressful studying suffers neck pains too and what is bad they really don't know how to handle it. 
According to study publish by Annals of Internal Medicine that medicine is not best way to get rid your neck pain. The experiment involved treating patients in three ways:
  1. Medication
  2. Exercise
  3. A Chiropractor
After 12 weeks the patients who used a chiropractor or exercised were more than twice as likely to be pain free compared to those who relied on medicine. That is the output of their research, so you don't have to spend your allowance buying medicines that could really help you out with your neck pains.
Experts say that Neck pain is a mechanical problem, and it makes sense that mechanical treatment works better than a chemical one.  So if you are having neck pains  because of your too much attention to your work or maybe because of you head positioning, have a break and exercise your neck from time to time I am sure it will be ok soon.

Nursing Stories - Thyroid Cancer is something that the World is battling about in finding ways to stop the increasing number of cases.  In the US alone there are about 37,000 new cases of this cancer each year.  The National Cancer Institute is making ways to halt it's growing number of patients by giving awareness to many women in the US who are the best target of this Cancer.  Females are more likely to have thyroid cancer at a ratio of three to one.  Thyroid cancer  has no restriction to age it could  happen to any age range, but most often it occurs on those who in their 30s.  Well, hence that symptoms of Thyroid Cancer would not easily appear to the patient, most women with the present of Thyroid nodules would come late on stopping the spread of Cancer.  Remember, over 99% of thyroid nodules are not cancer. But when thyroid cancer does begin to grow within the thyroid gland, it almost always does so within a discrete nodule within the thyroid.



So what are the symptoms of Thyroid Cancer:
  • Hoarseness
  • Neck pain
  • Enlarged lymph nodes do occur in people with thyroid cancer ( Better let the experts check it)

Nurse Talk-These recommendations are here to guide your choices. As you make small changes, hopefully you will develop good habits that will serve you and your children well throughout your lifetimes.
  • Eat mostly vegetables and fruits--strong colors tend to be the most vitamin-rich.
  • Get sources of protein from chicken, lean meats, fish (choose fish that tend to be low in mercury), tofu, or low-fat dairy sources. If you are vegan vegetarian, you will need to learn about nutrition to meet your protein and vitamin needs.
  • Take in most of your carbs as whole grains: brown rice and whole wheat. Downplay white foods.
  • Don't drink your calories--our bodies don't know when we take in liquid nutrition and oftentimes we don't count it in our daily intake. Sodas and juices contain a lot of calories.
  • Eat food that looks like food, not processed into something else.
  • Eat what your appetite tells you to--eat when you are hungry, take your time, and stop just before you are full.
  • When you do eat foods that are not "ideal," take a small portion, and enjoy every minute of it.
  • If you eat from stress, habit, boredom, or to socialize, find alternative ways to meet those needs. Keep your hands busy, go for a walk, listen to music, phone a friend.
  • Pay attention to your food while you are eating it. Don't watch television or read, or you may eat more than you meant to and still not really be satisfied.

Habits are hard to change, but when we get used to making good food choices and eating to allay hunger (as opposed to the myriad other reasons we eat), we can all really enjoy the tastes and textures of our sustenance, and be healthy too!

 Consuming chocolates is known to have a number of positive effects on the overall health of an individual. When it comes to skin care, chocolates can be used as packs, scrubs and wraps. Spas and salons are also making the use of chocolates in their skin treatment techniques, which yield positive results. Mentioned here are some of the benefits of dark chocolate for skin.
  • Flavonoids, which are a type of antioxidants contain a compound called epicatechins. This component has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties which protect the skin from damage, caused due to pollution, exposure to harmful chemicals and smoking.
  • Collagen and elastin play a key role in preventing wrinkles and skin discoloration. However, free radicals present in the body tend to destroy these components of the skin, thereby triggering skin problems. Chocolate, especially the dark version, is a rich source of flavanols, a type of flavonoids, which help in fighting against free radicals. They also repair damaged cells, making the skin healthy and blemish-free.
  • Cocoa, the main ingredient of this sweet treat, is known to increase the moisture in the skin, making it hydrated, and thereby preventing its flaking. Since skin density is improved, with the regular consumption of dark chocolate, you can now bid goodbye to dry, scratchy and rough skin.
  • Dark chocolate acts as a shield to protect the skin from harmful UV rays. There is considerable improvement in blood circulation and age spots also tend to fade away. Due to this, the skin appears to have a refreshing and dewy appearance.
