Nurses Talk - Recently we just read a very sad story of a 15 year old Afghan bride who was tortured by her in laws and force to enter prostitution.  Sahar Gul had bruised in all sides of his body and face, her eyes were swollen as she was wheeled to the Hospital. The abused from her in laws and husband just came right after their marriage and her worst beating just came just seven months from it.
Ending abuse of women is a huge challenge in a patriarchal society where traditional practices include child marriage, giving girls away to settle debts or pay for their relatives' crimes and so-called honor killings in which girls seen as disgracing their families are murdered by their relatives.
And some women activists worry that their hard-won political rights may erode as foreign troops withdraw and Karzai's government seeks to negotiate with the Taliban to end their insurgency. Women's rights, they fear, may be the first to go in any deal with the hardline Islamic militants. Many women in Afghanistan wanted to flee from their country due to the bad culture which rooted from the time of Taliban rule.  Some women committed heinous crimes to fight for their rights and survival from the hands of their husband and in-laws.  What is worst most of these women that we are talking about were as young as 15 years old.  There were cases that many young girls after force marriage were raped and some were force to prostitution, there were also so many cases of physical abuse that sometimes could nearly end  the lives to these poor young women.
